The 5th CHiME Speech Separation and Recognition Challenge

Following the success of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th CHiME challenges we are pleased to announce the 5th CHiME Speech Separation and Recognition Challenge (CHiME-5). The new challenge will consider the problem of distant microphone conversational speech recognition in everyday home environments. The challenge will target multi-microphone solutions with separate tracks for fixed microphone arrays and head-mounted microphones. Speech material will be elicited using a dinner party scenario with efforts taken to capture data that is representative of natural conversational speech.

All approaches are welcome, whether they are emerging or established, and whether they rely on speech processing, signal separation or machine learning.

See this document for a motivation and preliminary description of the corpus. We are currently finalizing financial and legal agreements for the recording and annotation of the data.
